I know, I know. Another long period of ‘lame’ and not posting. To make up for it, here’s a crochet pattern for a pokemon tea cozy I made for my husband. It’s a real quick work up, and a lot of fun.
Pokeball Teapot Cozy
This cozy fits my husbands little three cup (750 mL) teapot. I recommend measuring your pot closely or ‘trying it on’ as you go. If I were to do it again I would try it a round longer, but it is quite serviceable.
Yarn
Small amounts of worsted or aran weight in red, white and black, with at least some wool in it for better insulation. I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease solids. This would be a great project for using up oddballs and bits.
Hook
One hook size smaller than recommended on the ball band. I used I hook.
Notions
Yarn needle for finishing. (optional) split ring stitch marker for beginning of round.
Gauge
Gauge is not critical for this project, as you will modify to fit your own teapot, but I got 14SC and 14 rows/4 inches.
Notes
I use American crochet terminology throughout, so my SC would be a DC in the UK.

Red Side
Join black to the button next to the end of the ‘white side’. Repeat White Side, using red for white.
Seam top and bottom of the two sides to each other, leaving holes for handle and spout. Weave in the ends.
Bask in the geeky goodness!

This time I entered the Phat Fiber giveaway for a skein of Lady’s Boudoir from Huggy Bear Knits, and the EarthMama 101 giveaway for Twist and Twine sock yarn (deadline March 1). I’ll be heading back to the KnitFreedom blog to download a free pattern and to enter a giveaway for some yummy handspun.
