Well, I’ve done it. I’ve signed up for that yarn swap I was talking about. Movie themed, $10 limit. I’m very excited about the idea, but want to be careful how much I reveal, since the recipient might end up being among the very few people who read this blog. I think I’ll just have to blather on and trust to a cut. If you’re in the swap and reading this now, or if you’re my swap partner and going through my back posts, please don’t follow beyond the cut.
I have this DVD of “Signs” which I know I didn’t buy, my husband didn’t buy, and neither of my girls admit to buying. I’m guessing it came from a $1.99 specials bin (they sell them in the dollar store across the street) or my M-i-L watched it once and pawned it off on us. Will check with the group to see if the consensus is that it’s OK or not, but even if I can’t send the DVD I can work around it as a theme.
There’s an awesome free pattern for an alien amiguri on Ravelry, actually, there are several, and I have some left over yarn which would go beautifully, so even if I don’t go with “Signs” I’ll do a space alien thing with the swap. If I use the movie I think I’ll print out the analysis on TV Tropes, and some Creative Commons pictures of crop circles, and a bottle of water and cheap plastic cups. Throw in a weird looking skein of yarn, and some movie style candy/microwave popcorn if I can bring it in under the cap.
Actually… maybe I’ll do a general space alien theme. Depending on how much crocheting time I can fit in…
Anyway, at this point the possibilities are wide open. This should be fun.
