I’ve been an intermittent participant in the Where’s George Currency Tracking Project since 2006 (that’s even before Ravelry, for those of you keeping track at home). And I finally decided to invest in a stamp, because my handwriting sucks and my bills haven’t been getting great response rates.
So I went out and bought an inexpensive wooden stamper and some basic ink and did a few tests. Not the greatest thing in the world, but the impression is legible and I figured it would be acceptable.
Unfortunately, when I actually tried it on a $5 bill…
The impression isn’t crisp, not even legible. I don’t know if I need to try another stamp (acrylic are apparently recommended) or different ink (Pallette is the one most talked about). I know I should have done my research first, but I kind of assumed that stamps custom made for Where’s George would be appropriate for use on currency… 😦

During my time away I totally missed out on all sorts of news from the blogosphere. The most exciting being KarMyl Stitches FO (seriously, you’ve got to check this baby out!)

There’s also a personalized gift basket from The Crafty Hare. (drawing on March 8), and a handspun yarn giveaway from Wool and Cotton (deadline is the end of March 6, Greek time)
